Being a racing driver, results are everything. If you’re not performing, you won’t be noticed, and that means your sponsors won’t be happy. This adds pressure to ensure you’re at the front every single race. I’m fortunate not to have gone through a very rough patch in my career yet, but I know there will be times when I struggle. It will be up to me and my preparation to perform.

I follow a strict training schedule to maintain a high-performance level. My routine includes CrossFit in the mornings, long sessions on the simulator, and occasionally an extra run. The reason that I have chosen to do CrossFit is because of the movement based lifting that you do which is beneficial to a racing driver which helps me build the necessary strength and endurance that I need. The simulator allows me to practice and refine my racing techniques for hours, ensuring I’m well-prepared for any track. Before a race, I clear my mind by listening to music, usually I listen to rap or anything that helps to clear my head, to get in the zone.

My latest result in the South African Touring Car Championship in Port Elizabeth was very successful, winning the last race with the fastest lap in an extremely competitive field. This victory has boosted my confidence to push for more wins throughout the season.

Preparing for race weekends is more than just physical training; it’s about mental readiness and staying focused. With every race, I learn more about myself and what it takes to succeed in this high-pressure sport.
