East Londen was a very successful weekend for the team and I as we are continuing to take steps forward. I have kept my momentum going from my first win in Port Elizabeth last month and I hope to continue on bringing in good results for the team!
The weekend started off strong even though it was my first time at the track in the car and only my second time at the track ever. I adapted quickly to the track and was competing at the front of the field from the beginning finishing 2nd in all three practice sessions and ending the day being half a tenth of a second off of the fastest. Qualifying the next day did not go quite to plan making a mistake on my first flyer which left my splitter damaged but nonetheless we qualified in 3rd for race one.
Race one started off excellently pushing my way through to second and then unfortunately dropping off of the pace to the leader as we made the wrong setup choice as a team. Race two sees the top 6 reversed which left me starting 5th. I had a decent start making my way through into 4th and to then making a move for p3 on lap 2. Unfortunately, we were unable to make a move for 2nd, but our pace was much improved to that of race one.
I finished the weekend 2nd overall which has now put me in contention for 2nd in the championship. The team and I are going to do everything possible to improver for the next round at Killarney in Cape Town.
